Desk Drawer Fund Supports The Davies Project
Under its Empowering Youth philanthropic pillar, the Desk Drawer Fund is proud to support The Davies Project. The Empowering Youth pillar removes barriers for youth to share their ideas and empowers future leaders in the MSUFCU and OU Credit Union communities.
The Davies Project provides community-based, non-medical support for local families facing serious, long-term health challenges with a child. The organization pairs families with highly-screened and trained volunteer drivers that provide free rides to medical appointments. Rides are offered to seriously ill children and expectant mothers, as well as parents visiting their infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In 2014, the organization drove their first child to an appointment and have since provided thousands of rides.
In August, they will partner with the non-profit, Maxwell C. Matthews Foundation, to host Max’s Race. The 5K Run/Walk will raise money and awareness for programs that help children and their families in need of assistance.
The Davies Project was the first non-profit to receive a donation from the Desk Drawer Fund and Pamela Miklavcic, is “grateful to be the first recipient of this honor.” She said, “Our agency will be able to provide free rides to more families in need of transportation to medical care for seriously ill children.”
