“We're very excited to begin the groundwork on the Center, as it will allow us to provide opportunities to many young professionals. Our goal is to help each individual develop personally and professionally and be able to provide a full-time position after graduation, further supporting the Credit Union's growth.”— April Clobes, MSUFCU President and Chief Executive Officer

MSUFCU is gearing up for a second year of programming with the Brandon School District to provide an engaging learning experience for students within their schools. Through a combination of Student-Run branches, In-School branches, and In-Class presentations, students of all ages will have the opportunity to practice savings habits, learn about credit and money management, and demonstrate their financial knowledge.

In the two Brandon Elementary Schools, Oakwood Elementary and Harvey-Swanson Elementary, select students in the third and fourth grades will have the opportunity to apply, interview, and work for Student-Run branches of MSUFCU. Through this experience, participating students will practice the real-life process of entering the workforce and gain valuable hands-on experience with Credit Union operations. Positions for the students include Manager, Assistant Manager, Teller, Accountant, Marketing Rep, and more. The schedule for these Student-Run Branches is as follows:

Oakwood Elementary:

First and Third Fridays of each month, beginning October 20, 2017

9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Harvey-Swanson Elementary:

Biweekly on Fridays, beginning October 6, 2017

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

In Brandon Middle School and Brandon High School, MSUFCU will host biweekly In-School branches. These branches will be operated by MSUFCU employees and will offer students the opportunity to perform transactions on their accounts, enter raffles, play financial games, and learn about credit, budgeting, and identity theft. This approach will be supplemented with In-Class presentations that dive deeper into each topic and provide students with the tools to successfully navigate the financial world.

“I am so excited to have the Credit Union back this year!” said Brandon Middle School Principal Mike Tucker. “The education students get from this program is valuable at this critical time in their lives.”

The schedule for the In-School Branches is as follows:

Brandon Middle School:

Biweekly on Tuesdays, beginning September 19, 2017

11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Brandon High School:

Kick-off Credit Union Day on October 4, 2017

Biweekly on Thursdays, beginning October 5, 2017

10:35 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.
