MSUFCU Celebrates 75 Years and Pays it Forward
Giving back to the community is a top priority at MSUFCU, and to honor its 75th anniversary, the Credit Union decided to “pay it forward” in November 2012 with over $7,500 to residents in the Greater Lansing and Auburn Hills communities.
To pay it forward in the communities, staff set out to do kind things for local residents such as surprise them by paying for their coffees, lunches, and donating to charities.
On November 1, MSUFCU staff visited Auburn Hills for a fun-filled day of paying it forward. Employees visited the Oakland University campus, Biggby, Jimmy John’s, and more.
Then, throughout the week of November 4, MSUFCU employees visited many different locations in the Greater Lansing area including Celebration! Cinema, Biggby coffee shops, local restaurants, and charities such as Ele’s Place and the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
April Clobes, MSUFCU’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, commented, “While we didn’t tell people which business we were going to visit ahead of time, we did give clues on our social media pages every day. It created a fun experience for everyone.”
In addition to paying it forward, MSUFCU invited members to share in the celebration with yearlong promotions, free lunches at local branches during the week of November 11, and a special anniversary party at their Headquarters location.
We welcomed more than 350 MSUFCU members to join us for our 75th anniversary party on November 14. The night was filled with an exciting list of events, which included remarks from MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon, a performance by the Spartan Pep Band, and a special guest appearance from Sparty. Guests also had the opportunity to tour our LEED-certified Headquarters building and remember the night by stopping to get their pictures taken at the photo booth.
