The Credit Union Partners with the Rochester Area Neighborhood House
The Credit Union is excited for its new partnership with the Rochester Area Neighborhood House (RANH) to provide financial education for free in the Oakland County community. This included a seminar on February 7, 2018, at the Neighborhood House. Clients of the RANH were invited to attend and were offered one-on-one follow-up with a financial mentor from the Neighborhood House.
The two hour presentation covered the topics of building savings, budgeting, credit factors, and preventing identity theft. With a smaller group of attendees, there was a greater amount of time for questions and a targeted focus on topics most applicable to attendees.
“The presentation was super engaging and was really targeted toward the needs of those who attended,” said Dianne Bette, Sustainability Program Manager at RANH. “I feel that attendees got a lot out of it and I even learned a few new things!”
The RANH is a nonprofit organization based in Rochester that provides emergency and crisis support for families and individuals who are struggling due to financial hardship or unexpected life events. They provide emotional and financial assistance as well as free educational seminars on topics such as financial management, computer literacy training, resume building, and more.
The Credit Union looks forward to working with the Neighborhood House to support the community through ongoing financial education. Many students in the Rochester School District also volunteer at the RANH which has presented the Credit Union with an opportunity to facilitate a financial seminar for Rochester High School students in early March.
