On a chilly, mid-January morning, high school students from Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) shuffled off a school bus and made their way inside MSU Federal Credit Union’s Headquarters for a day filled with interactive presentations and a tour of the LEED certified building.

The participating students were part of the MISD’s Career and Technical Education Program, which allows students to explore career paths and encourages them to acquire skills that prepare them for life after high school.

Throughout the day, students listened to presentations from employees representing multiple different departments at MSU Federal Credit Union, including, facilities, human resources, accounting, marketing and communications, software development, call center, branches, and financial education. Each presenter discussed their own educational and professional path, talked about special projects in their respective departments, and offered time for questions from the students.

After the presentations wrapped up, students were taken on a tour of the building, which houses internal departments and amenities for employees, including a gym, cafeteria, game room, and more.

Catherine, one of the Financial Educators that presented to the students said, “The whole experience was really fun. It’s awesome to see teenagers starting to think about their futures and the possible paths that lie ahead of them. I heard multiple students express how great the day was, how impressed they were with the building, and how cool it would be to work for an organization like the Credit Union someday.”
