“We're very excited to begin the groundwork on the Center, as it will allow us to provide opportunities to many young professionals. Our goal is to help each individual develop personally and professionally and be able to provide a full-time position after graduation, further supporting the Credit Union's growth.”— April Clobes, MSUFCU President and Chief Executive Officer

On Monday, March 19, 2018, the Credit Union welcomed jazz saxophonist and bandleader, Steve Wilson, as the fourth and final performer of the 2017–2018 edition of the Blue Mondays concert series. Wilson delivered a powerful performance for community members and employees.

Blue Mondays is a jazz concert series that brings world-renowned jazz musicians to the MSUFCU Headquarters, where performances take place throughout the year. Blue Mondays is made possible by the MSU Federal Credit Union Jazz Artist in Residence Endowment. This endowment program serves as a means to support and enrich local music education programs. During his residency, Wilson will spend a week working with MSU student musicians in the Jazz Studies program by offering workshops and concerts.

Wilson is an internationally recognized saxophonist from Hampton, Virginia. His love of music was apparent from a young age. Wilson played oboe and drums in his school band, while making time to perform in a variety of funk and R&B bands during his teens. After high school, he spent a year performing with Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter, Stephanie Mills. Wilson went on to perfect his craft at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He studied and performed with icons such as Jimmy Percy Heath, Jon Hendricks, and Frank Foster. Over the years, Wilson has brought his distinctive sound to more that 150 recordings led by celebrated artists.
