Rivals Rally for Good MSU and UofM Alumni Support Local Charity
Michigan State University and University of Michigan fans may be rivals when it comes to sports, but both were happy to join together in support of the community for a friendly competition with the Grand Rapids Drive basketball team.
MSUFCU partnered with the Alumni Associations for Michigan State University and University of Michigan to host a basketball game with the Drive, a minor league affiliate team for the Detroit Pistons. Drive players wore green and white-inspired jerseys, while the opposing team wore maize and blue jerseys.
Proceeds from the event supported a Grand Rapids local charity Kids’ Food Basket, which provides evening meals for children living at or near the poverty line. With 2,200 people attending the event, we were able to help donate a total of $516 to the charity.
“The Credit Union is dedicated to creating stronger communities where every adult and child has access to the resources they need to become successful—financially and beyond,” said Lisa, a Credit Union employee. “Kids’ Food Basket helps provides a basic necessity, so that children can go on to lead fulfilling lives. We are passionate about its mission and efforts to create sustainable, thriving children and communities.”
Charitable giving is one of the Credit Union’s core values. MSUFCU has remained dedicated to building stronger communities for over 80 years and looks forward to working with and supporting the Grand Rapids community.
