Preparing Students for Future Success MSUFCU Shares 50 Interview Tips To Land the Job

There is an electric mix of excitement and nervousness that accompanies an interview. It feels as if you are taking the first step toward your dream job. In fact, securing an interview itself is a feat. According to Glassdoor, only two percent of applicants will be called for an interview for the average job opening. To help prepare jobseekers for interview success, the Credit Union recently hosted an Interview Tips Dinner.

 

The Interview Tips Dinner took place on Thursday, February 22, 2018, in the MSU Union Ballroom. The event was inspired by student feedback. In Credit Union-led surveys, students requested advice regarding all areas of the job-hunting process. To provide them with a stronger skill set, the Credit Union set out to design an evening focused on the steps to take before, during, and after an interview, to ensure success.

 

During the event, students networked with Credit Union employees over a three-course, plated dinner. Whitney Anderson-Harrell, MSUFCU’s Chief Community Development Officer, led the evening-long discussion, focusing on professional attire and networking strategies. Additionally, managers sat at every table, giving students the opportunity to have job-specific questions answered. By the end of the Interview Tips Dinner, employees shared more than 50 interview tips. In addition to the tips, participants received a padfolio to help organize their interview materials.
