MSUFCU Sponsors 25th Annual Race for the Place 5K
MSU Safe Place experienced another successful year of their largest annual fundraiser, Race for the Place 5K. Approximately 549 community members participated in the race on MSU’s campus, Sunday, April 14, 2019, raising $30,000. Funds raised will provide resources to survivors on MSU’s campus and in Greater Lansing, who have faced relationship violence or stalking. Resources offered to survivors include safe shelter, individualized counseling, support groups, advocacy services, and referrals for long-term treatment. MSU Safe Place’s program also aims to educate and increase awareness in the surrounding communities, with an overall goal to prevent relationship violence and stalking.
MSU Federal Credit Union were Platinum Sponsors for the 2019 Race for the Place 5K and also sponsored 22 employees to participate in the race. Seventeen Credit Union employees volunteered at packet pick-up and registration the day of the race. The volunteers enjoyed the event, describing the event meaningful and fun.
MSUFCU employee and Race for the Place volunteer, Judy Rademacher, reflected on the event saying, “This event was so much fun. There is music, massages, snacks, Sparty, and just a very positive, fun atmosphere. You can really feel the love and you can tell that the community is behind this 100%. It really was an honor to be able to volunteer for this event!”
MSUFCU and its employees are proud to support MSU Safe Place!
