New Internship Opportunity Award Program for MSU Students
MSUFCU recently announced its continued support of Michigan State University programs and students with a $50,000 donation to the MSUFCU Internship Opportunity Award Program, administered through the MSU Career Services Network.
This program will provide MSU students participating in unpaid internships during the summer of 2013 with monetary awards of up to $1,000. MSUFCU and the MSU Career Services Network originally established the MSUFCU Internship Opportunity Award Program in early 2012.
More than 260 MSU students applied for the summer 2013 MSUFCU Internship Opportunity Award Program. All MSU undergraduate students in good standing who were accepted to or actively pursuing high-quality, unpaid, career-related internships in the fields of non-profit organizations, government, media, the arts, or public relations and advertising were eligible to apply.
Preference was given to applicants interning at non-profit organizations located in the Greater Lansing area and throughout the state of Michigan as well as those interning at start-up businesses in Michigan that have been in operation less than two years.
Patrick McPharlin, MSUFCU’s President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “Thanks in part to our roots in the MSU community, education is a top priority for MSUFCU, and we are happy to support MSU students who wish to take advantage of the high-quality internships available to them. The MSUFCU Internship Opportunity Award Program allows more students to participate in internships to expand their education in real-world environments, prepare for their future careers, and ultimately achieve their dreams, all while helping to enrich Michigan’s workplaces and economy.”
