Sparrow hosted its annual race, the Michigan Mile and KIDSPRINT, on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Children, ages 13 and under, participated in the race at Cooley Law School Stadium and more than 1,745 members of the community attended.

Participants ran the Michigan Mile, a course circling the stadium, and ended with the finish line on the baseball diamond. Children, ages six and under, raced on the warm-up track inside the stadium. All participants received a t-shirt and race bag, while finishers received a medal.

Sparrow Health System works within the community to educate and encourage positive, healthy living habits, such as physical activity. They currently promote a Feelin’ Goodâ Mileage Club, a free voluntary program with earned incentives, to increase activity during school days around mid-Michigan.

MSU Federal Credit Union was the KIDSPRINT Sneaker Sponsor for the 2019 Michigan Mile and KIDSPRINT. On the day of the race, nine Credit Union employees volunteered to award medals to the racers as they crossed the finish line.

One Credit Union volunteer, Chris said, “It was inspiring, watching young people and their parents participate, especially when the parents chose to run alongside their kids. You could see the joy of the runners in the KIDSPRINT after they competed in their first race!”

Another Credit Union volunteer, Carolinne, reflected saying, “Partnering with and sponsoring events for organizations such as Sparrow, that have such a huge impact in our community, reaffirms my wanting to be part of the MSUFCU family.”

The Credit Union and its employees are proud to support the Sparrow Michigan Mile and KIDSPRINT, in its efforts to build a healthy and vibrant community.
