Celebrating our 80th Anniversary and the Grand Opening of the Second Building on our Headquarters Campus
Since 1937, MSUFCU has been part of the community—first by offering a safe place for MSU faculty and staff members to keep their money during a tough economic climate, and now as the largest university-based credit union in the world. 2017 marks the 80th anniversary of the Credit Union, and we hosted an 80th anniversary celebration during the grand opening of our second building on our Headquarters campus to commemorate this milestone.
Nearly 1,300 members and community members attended the October 1 event to celebrate with us. There was plenty of food; a kids’ area where youth could play our financial education apps, color pictures, and pick up balloons; social media contests; photo booths; and tours of the new building. Sparty was also in attendance to welcome guests to the space. MSUFCU’s new building began operations in August 2017 and houses our Call Center, eServices, and IT departments. Construction began in 2015, with over 550 individuals helping to build it—many of which were union employees. The 184,000-square foot building has three floors and a lower level, which includes a community room for seating up to 330 people. The community room allows us to continue to host many events that both help support local organizations and bring new ideas to our community.
“We were providing personal one on one experiences… we’re guided by a rule of giving everyone the best service they could expect from a credit union. We’re looking to improve the lives of not only our members, but everyone in our community,” commented April Clobes, President/CEO, during her opening remarks.
Our second building will enable us to further assist members and enhance our service offerings. Without the support of our members, our continual growth would not be possible. MSUFCU looks forward to serving our members for the next 80 years and beyond with superior products and services.
