“It was so fun to see the look in the RDC employees' eyes when we showed up with all of the winter gear. They were surprised by how much we brought and so thankful to be able to help more refugee families by providing them coats, hats, and gloves during the winter months. It was a great feeling to know that more people could stay warm this year because of the RDC.”— Julia, Credit Union employee

Encouraging Healthy and Active Lifestyles at Andre Hutson's Bowling with Champions

The name Andre Hutson may remind you of an all-star 2000 NCAA Championship basketball team. As a former power forward at Michigan State University (MSU), Hutson is celebrated in the MSU community and beyond. After playing basketball overseas, he became a successful entrepreneur and father of two children. In 2015, Hutson combined his love of sports and charitable work to create the Conquest Health and Fitness Foundation. The Credit Union is proud to support the Conquest Health and Fitness Foundation in its mission to improve the quality of life for individuals by promoting an active lifestyle through health, fitness, and education.

On Friday, February 9, 2018, the Conquest Health and Fitness Foundation will host Andre Hutson’s Bowling with Champions fundraiser. The evening long event will take place at City Limits Bowling Center and Sports Grill from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. During the fourth annual fundraiser, participants will enjoy live music, food and beverages, and the opportunity to bowl with selected champions of the community. In the past, these champions have included stars such as Matt Costello, Suzy Merchant—and of course, Andre Hutson.

The funds raised will benefit the programs offered by the foundation, such as free fitness programs for families. In addition to fundraising, Bowling with Champions helps raise awareness about the importance of active lifestyles. The event is especially focused on creating youth programs to help support healthy habits from a young age. Studies underscore the importance of establishing healthy habits early in life. The National Center for Biotechnology Information reports that regular exercise has been linked to reduced risks of medical conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

The Credit Union is proud to support these efforts to uplift members of our community. By investing in the community, through programs such as Andre Hutson’s Bowling with Champions, we help create a place where people are proud to live, work, and play.
