Ele's Race Virtual 5k Attracts More Than 1,000 Participants
On July 25, Ele’s Place hosted their annual Ele’s Race 5k virtually, allowing supporters from Michigan and beyond to participate. Ele’s Place is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to creating awareness of and support for grieving children and their families. Through peer support group programs, Ele’s Place helps children to cope with the death of a parent, sibling or other close family member or friend.
Ele’s Race is the main fundraising event of the year for Ele’s Place. There were an outstanding 1,057 participants who registered to run or walk in support of the cause. This fundraiser allows for grieving families to utilize the Ele’s Place services at no cost. Ele’s Place has four offices throughout Michigan including Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint and Grand Rapids.
"My children and I attended group sessions at Ele's Place - Capital Region after my husband/ their dad passed away in 2014. That following July, we started Team Cox and will continue to do Ele's Race for years to come. Our family is scattered all over the United States. Last year (2019) almost all of them came to Michigan and joined us for Ele's Race,” said Susan Cox. “We are so glad you are doing this virtually and didn’t cancel. We have family walking with us from Michigan, Texas, Maryland, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Colorado! So, thank you Ele's Place! Thank you for your support when we needed it the most and thank you for keeping this race going and honoring our loved ones."
