“The main goal of camp is to get kids outside and engaged with nature. However, our focus is to teach kids technical skills that they can use later on in life. The financial education portion that MSUFCU provides fits right into that portion. MSUFCU is laying the foundation of saving and budgeting which are life skills the kids will use after they leave camp.”— Shaun McKeon, MUCC Education Coordinator

Spreading Holiday Cheer for Children in Our Communities

The holidays are a time of joy, and the Credit Union is proud to make the season bright for those in our communities through the annual Giving Tree gift drive. Giving Tree is a program the Credit Union participates in each year to help children and families in need receive gifts for the holidays and other necessities for the winter.

This year, the Credit Union partnered with Child and Family Charities, University Apartments, and Clarkston Area Youth Assistance (CAYA) to help support local families by purchasing gifts for children. From toy cars and building blocks to warm hats and gloves, children in Greater Lansing and Oakland County had their wish lists fulfilled thanks to the kindness and generosity of Credit Union members and employees.

Nearly 200 local children received gifts through Giving Tree. Together, Credit Union members and employees donated more than 550 gifts, providing each child with approximately three gifts this holiday season.

Giving back to the community is one of Credit Union’s core values, and Giving Tree allowed members and employees to spread holiday cheer across our Greater Lansing and Metro Detroit communities.
