Giving Tree Program Provides Gifts to Local Children

Each year, MSUFCU teams up with Child and Family Charities and MSU University Housing to collect toys and presents for children in the Greater Lansing area as part of our Giving Tree holiday gift program.

Members and employees were given the opportunity to give back to local children by selecting a tag from one of the Giving Trees located at each of our twelve branches. Each tag listed gift items from a child’s wish list. The Giving Tree program was held from Wednesday, November 13, 2013, through Monday, December 9, 2013. Items such as Barbie’s, LEGOS, dinosaurs, coats and mittens were collected for the families of MSU University Housing and Child and Family Charities. Together, we were able to make an impact on children’s lives by helping local families during this holiday season.

Patrick McPharlin, the President and CEO, commented, “A tremendous thank you to our members and employees for your help year after year in making our Giving Tree program a success. The community support we receive each year during this holiday season of celebration is tremendous in helping to ensure families and children in the community who would otherwise not have anything under the tree, are able to open presents.”

Thanks to our members this year’s Giving Tree was a success. The Credit Union and community were able to provide toys for 212 children, an increase of 32 children compared to last year’s giving program. The Credit Union also partnered with Auburn Hills Firefighters Helping Hands, donating $380 to the organization, in addition to collecting toys for children staying in Havenwyck Hospital in Auburn Hills.
