“Sponsoring a community event like the Teddy Bear Picnic is so important because it gives MSUFCU employees the opportunity to interact with a wider demographic and contribute to family fun. Our group of volunteers did a great job of putting smiles on children's faces. We were able to have conversations about the Credit Union with kids as young as seven, as well as with their families.”— Lily, Credit Union volunteer

Spend a sunny afternoon strolling the streets of the capital city. With a variety of local food and farm products, the Farmers Market at the Lansing Capitol put on by the Michigan Farmers Market Association will kickoff their summer season beginning Thursday, July 27, 2017. The Credit Union is a proud sponsor of the Farmers Market at the Capitol, which has brought community members together to celebrate food and the city of Lansing for over 10 years.

Located at the heart of the state, the farmers market helps ensure that Greater Lansing residents have access to healthy, locally grown food. It also spotlights the important role farmers and agricultural businesses play in the economy and our daily lives. From July to September on Thursday afternoons, vendors unfold tables and pitch tents across the east lawn of the Capitol Building. These vendors travel from all over the “Mitten State” to sell their handcrafted goods. From fresh cut flowers and soaps, to baked goods and caramels there is something for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to providing fresh food to the area, the market also seeks to educate the community about agriculture. Since 2002, the Michigan Farmers Market Association has worked to provide educational programs to help teach community members of all ages about farming practices and industry trends. The Credit Union believes in the vibrancy of the Greater Lansing area, and supports our local farmers. We believe in recognizing and appreciating the unique skills and talents of those in our communities, and are proud to support them through the Farmers Markets at the Capitol.
