“MSU, and our department, could not implement a program like this without generous community partners and collaborators. MSUFCU provides not only an expert role around credit and lending, but also is a valuable sponsor so that we make the event fun and enjoyable for all.”— Erica Tobe, MSU Assistant Professor

Children in the Greater Lansing area eagerly filled Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday, June 3 for the annual Sparrow Michigan Mile. The day began with a mile run for ages 13 and under and also featured a KIDSPRINT, sponsored by MSUFCU, for ages six and under.

MSUFCU was pleased to be a part of this annual race and help promote a healthy lifestyle for kids in the area.

“The Sparrow Michigan Mile is one of my favorite events to volunteer for,” commented Kim, a Credit Union employee. “Nothing beats the smile and sense of accomplishment on the kids’ faces when they cross the finish line.”

Kim, along with seven other MSUFCU employees, were just a few of the many volunteers who came out to cheer on the kids and pass out medals at the end. Each child that participated in one of the races received a free t-shirt and gold medal.

Making healthier lifestyle choices is a big focus at MSUFCU—through their CU Healthy initiative—and many employees have incorporated this into their daily lives. The Credit Union has partnered with Sparrow to share different tips on this lifestyle and hold various competitions through its Be Well at Work portal. Employees are also offered free admission to races and incentives based on the amount of activity they perform each quarter.
