MSUFCU Community Celebrates Kindness at ePIFanyNow Party
On Sunday, May 5, MSUFCU welcomed community members to its headquarters for a celebration of kindness and an acknowledgement of those who have been dedicating their time and resources to making a difference in the community. This celebration is known as the annual ePIFanyNow™ party, hosted by ePIFanyNow™ founder, Bob Hoffman.
ePIFanyNow™ is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating positive change throughout our community and beyond, according to Hoffman. “The idea is to come together and create energy, excitement, and enthusiasm around being kind to others. Our goal is to create continuous momentum so people will continue doing random acts of kindness even after they leave.”
Over 100 people attended this year’s ePIFanyNow™ party, including two teams of MSUFCU employees who participated by passing it forward in the community earlier that day. Teams of volunteers performed acts of kindness that included passing out Meijer gift cards and purchasing snacks for the local fire department. One team’s kindness was even enough to encourage someone in the community to join in the festivities after receiving a gift card and hearing about the mission of the event.
Local youths were celebrated at the event as well through nominations for the Y-PIF Award, which recognizes young changemakers for their positive contributions to the community. This year’s Y-PIF winner, Lansing Christian 1st Grade Class, was selected for packing 900 bags of food as “weekend survival kits” for kids in the area. As part of the award, ePIFanyNow™ donated $500 to the cause. There were 10 other nominees which included:
- Alana Rosser
- Chelsea Rostoni
- Chloe Reece
- Jackson Northwest School
- Logan Bouvier
- Lorraine (Rainey) Terpening
- Maddie Smith
- Morgan Scarbro
- Myla Wey-Koutsoubos
- Walled Lake 3rd Grade Class
The ePIFanyNow™ HERO Award was also presented at this year’s event. This year’s recipient was Pam Miklavcic, because of her work with the Davies Project. The Davies Project is an organization that provides community-based, non-medical support for local families facing serious, long-term health challenges with a child. The Credit Union is proud to support this event each year and live out our core value of giving back to the community. We look forward to our continued partnership with ePIFanyNow™ as we help in their efforts to spread kindness in Greater Lansing and beyond.
