Distinguished Citizen Awards Gala Honors MSUFCU CEO

We are pleased to announce that on May 6, 2013, MSUFCU’s President and CEO Patrick (Pat) McPharlin was honored at the Distinguished Citizen Awards Gala by the Chief Okemos District of the Water and Woods Field Service Council-Boy Scouts of America for his contributions to the community.

Established in 1977, the Distinguished Citizen Awards Gala was created to recognize leaders in our community who also serve as role models to youth in the Greater Lansing area.

Growing up in Detroit, Pat learned firsthand the significance of having a strong role model present in a young person’s life. After a guidance counselor took the time to help him get on the right track and apply for colleges, Pat developed a strong belief in the importance of giving back, especially to our youth.

Not only has Pat achieved success in giving back in his everyday life, but he has helped MSUFCU become a leader in the community, too. It’s our mission and hope at the Credit Union to help members and employees achieve their financial goals and dreams, starting with youth.

“At the Credit Union, we’re very fortunate to be able to invest and provide resources to help young people be successful in their everyday lives,” said Pat.

MSUFCU is a proud sponsor of local events and charities benefiting youth such as the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and many local schools.

Also receiving recognition at the Gala were Jim Herbert of Neogen Corporation and Suzy Merchant, coach of the MSU Women’s Basketball Team. Pat will join the past Distinguished Citizen Award recipients that include Tom Izzo and Dr. Lou Anna K. Simon, among others.
