Employees Pass Kindness Forward
Giving back to the community in which we live and work is one of the Credit Union’s core values. Whether it is providing superior service to our members or supporting a variety of local charities and organizations through employee volunteerism, MSUFCU has a strong commitment to the Greater Lansing and Oakland areas.
On the afternoon of Sunday, May 4, 2014, we welcomed more than 150 MSUFCU and community members to join us in passing it forward as part of the ePIFanyNow™ event.
“ePIFanyNow™ is about stepping out of your own thoughts and realizing you have the power to change another person’s life for the better. It’s simple and doesn’t cost a thing. Sometimes it’s even a smile. ePIFanyNow™ isn’t a religious or political organization; it’s just you and me spreading kindness and asking other to do the same,” says ePIFanyNow™ founder, Bob Hoffman.
After some inspiration and ideas shared by Founder Bob Hoffman, members and employees set out to perform random acts of kindness in the community. Participants of all ages including families, area elementary school teachers, and representatives from local nonprofit organizations passed it forward in the community in various ways, from surprising individuals by paying for their coffees, meals and groceries at local stores, to visiting residents in local senior communities, and using sidewalk chalk to leave inspirational messages in a nearby park.
Employees from MSUFCU teamed up to pay for people’s coffees at Biggby, visited a local senior center to hand out flowers and spend time with residents, and visited the East Lansing Police station and Lansing Fire Department to deliver cookies thanking them for serving our community. Check out the video below to see how our employees passed it forward in the community!
