MSUFCU and Members Help Support Sparrow Children’s Center

We were proud to partner with the Sparrow Children’s Center in support of children in our local community through a toy drive in our Greater Lansing area branches.

Beginning in May, we invited our members to help us in supporting the Sparrow Children’s Center by donating toys and items needed for their playroom. Boxes were available at branches and after four weeks, we were amazed by the generosity of our members.

On Friday, June 31 we delivered five boxes with crayons, art supplies, stuffed animals, and other items requested by the center. With the help of our members, MSUFCU was able to donate more than 350 toys and items to the Children’s Center playroom at Sparrow Hospital!

In addition to the toy donation, the Credit Union presented the Children’s Center with $20,000 at the 25th annual Children’s Miracle Network Telethon to help enhance children’s experiences while at Sparrow. Fourteen MSUFCU volunteers also helped to answer phones at the telethon, where nearly $1 million was raised for the Sparrow Children’s Center!

Every donation made through the telethon will stay in the mid-Michigan area to help Sparrow care for local children, while strengthening programs and facilities that offer young patients the best possible care, regardless of families’ abilities to pay for the services.

The Children’s Center playroom is used to help children recover from sickness or injury through play, education, and emotional support. For more information, please visit: http://www.sparrow.org/childrenscenter.
