“There was an awesome feeling of community since everyone there donated their time for a great causeâ”making sure every family in Ortonville would have food for Thanksgiving. During my regular working hours in the Ortonville office, I have processed deposits for individuals who organize the OCEF food drive program. They told me they were able to help about 140 families from that event. We look forward to doing it again next year!”— Kelly, Credit Union employee

One of MSUFCU’s core values is giving back to the community. Through volunteerism, donations, and fundraising within our organization, we are able to strengthen our local communities.

“I have the opportunity to work with passionate and dedicated employees who inspire me every day.” Said Rebecca, a Credit Union volunteer coordinator. “Their continued commitment to our community is why I donate and volunteer. The efforts from our employees show how much of an impact we can make in the lives of people around us.”

Each year, employees are able to nominate and vote on participating charities. In 2018, employees selected Michigan Capital Area United Way, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, Lighthouse of Oakland County, and Kids’ Food Basket. Through fundraising and payroll donations, MSUFCU employees were able to collect $231,780 for the selected charities. Additionally, employee volunteerism totaled 4,750 hours.
