Employees Pledge More Than 200 Volunteer Hours at the second annual Volunteer Kickoff Party
Giving back to the community is a cornerstone of the Credit Union’s existence. Each year, employees help support a variety of causes through volunteerism and donations. On March 29, 2018, the Credit Union’s CU Involved Committee hosted its second annual Volunteer Kickoff Party. During the event, employees connected with representatives from 21 non-profit organizations.
At its core, the Volunteer Kickoff Party is designed to raise awareness for charitable organizations located throughout Mid-Michigan. The event provides employees with a platform to explore causes ranging from health and medicine to youth and women’s empowerment. Credit Union employee, Dale, commented, “the kickoff party is a unique and convenient way to explore volunteer opportunities at a multitude of organizations. By meeting with representatives in person, employees have the opportunity to build relationships and feel encouraged and ready to get involved.”
That afternoon, employees pledged 265 volunteer hours at the party and later 100 employees made pledges online. Making a pledge helps organizations maintain a steady volunteer base, while also informing employee volunteers about upcoming opportunities. Arianna, an employee and volunteer expressed her enthusiasm, “the chance to make a difference in someone’s life or even their day is so meaningful. I’m proud to work for an organization that is truly dedicated to making the community a better place.”
From serving meals at the community kitchen to helping take care of furry friends at the local animal shelter, employees found worthwhile ways to share their time and talents. Last year alone, 280 employees volunteered a total of 3,228 hours. The Credit Union is proud to foster an environment where employees are empowered to support causes close to their hearts. Through this spirit of volunteerism, the Credit Union is able to make a difference in the lives of community members and beyond.
