On Saturday, August 12, 2017, we welcomed more than 800 youth and community members to the annual Kids’ Day event held at our Headquarters, breaking an attendance record for this event! This year, kids and their families were invited to “Give a Hoot About Saving” by participating in fun, financial education activities.

Throughout the event, children and their guests enjoyed a pizza lunch, MSU Dairy Store ice cream, cotton candy, visits with Arthur from WKAR PBS, various contests and giveaways, and activities including outdoor inflatables, glitter tattoos, balloons, creating their own owl masks, and winning prizes at Plinko and the prize wheel.

“I worked at the prize wheel and no matter how big or small the prize each child won, there was always a smile on his or her face,” said Jarrod, a Credit Union employee. “It’s exciting to see how events like Kids’ Day helps us strengthen our relationships with our youth members and community.”

Attendees also had the opportunity to redeem Dollar Dog coins for Dollar Dog Store prizes that were marked half off at the Kids’ Day event. The Dollar Dog account is offered for youth ages 5–12. With every $10 deposited into a Dollar Dog account, children can earn one Dollar Dog coin. Once 10 Dollar Dog coins are earned, they may be redeemed for prizes at any of the Credit Union’s branches. Additionally, youth members who have Sweet Pea accounts, which is offered for youth ages 0–4, were able to pick up a “Sweet Pea Surprise,” when they arrived at the event.

MSUFCU is dedicated to serving all of our youth members by offering free accounts and services that focus on the importance of saving and make creating positive financial habits fun. Kids’ Day allows us to celebrate our youth members while helping them prepare for a successful financial future.
