“It's wonderful to see everyone come together to help out in the community during Pay It Forward week. I'm so happy to see that we surpassed our goal and were able to have a greater impact on our community during the holidays, which can be a tough time for those in need.”— Julia, Credit Union employee and volunteer

Giving back to our community is one of MSUFCU’s core values. One of our best examples of a community-driven employee is our 2018 Volunteer of the Year, Kieran.

“When I first started working at MSUFCU almost four and a half years ago, I was aware that we held a presence in the Lansing community, but I really had no idea how strong that presence was,” recalled Kieran, an MSUFCU employee and 2018 Volunteer of the Year. “Watching our community involvement grow in the Lansing, Oakland County, and Grand Rapids areas and to be a part of it has been nothing short of amazing.”

The volunteer of the year is able to donate $500 to a charity of their choice. Kieran selected Capital Area Humane Society to be the benefiting organization.

“I have adopted two dogs, Papa and Oliver, from Capital Area Humane Society since I was a community relations intern with the shelter,” remembered Kieran. “Adopting an animal is a lot of responsibility, but you can still help by donating time, money or items on their wish list.

Every year our employees set a goal: do more for the community than last year. Since 2016 our employees have donated over $627,220 and volunteered more than 13,864 hours.

Congratulations again, Kieran!
