MSUFCU Pays it Forward to Greater Lansing Community
EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSUFCU is pleased to share the ways in which the Credit Union was able to make a difference in the Greater Lansing community during its 2015 Pay it Forward week.
From November 16-22 employees took to the community to pay it forward, in celebration of the Credit Union’s 78th anniversary. From handing out gift cards at local restaurants, to giving away bus passes at the Lansing CATA station, MSUFCU employees spent each day performing random acts of kindness.
Organizations benefiting from this year’s Pay it Forward initiative included: Beekman Therapeutic Riding Center, receiving materials to build a new fence; Ingham County Animal Shelter, receiving food, bedding, and other pet supplies; Capital Area Literacy Coalition, receiving books and school supplies; Eastern High School, receiving a donation to their band program; and the Lansing Fire Department, receiving a steak dinner, snacks, and various games.
“Pay it Forward is not only a celebration of the Credit Union’s anniversary, but it is also a special opportunity for our employees to give back to the community outside of financial education,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “It’s wonderful to see how an act of kindness, no matter how big or small, can make a difference in someone’s day, and we love that we can be a part of that.”
MSUFCU’s Pay it Forward initiative began in 2012 in celebration of MSUFCU’s 75th anniversary. Employees went out into the community and gave back to local organizations and community members. This initiative will take place each year moving forward to honor the Credit Union’s anniversary and to continue having a positive impact on the community.
