“We are excited to integrate a college intern into our financial education program because it will provide a dynamic professional experience and inject new ideas into the program. We are also excited to provide intern opportunities for the Oakland University community that provide for career exploration as well as hands on professional experience.”— Ian, Financial Educator

EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce that it recently received 2016 Gold Award Recognition through the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Worksites recognition program. The Credit Union received this recognition by offering employees physical activity options at work, increasing healthy eating options, and promoting a positive wellness culture.

Employee participation and involvement in different activities such the annual health fair, flu shot clinic, and wellness challenges helped the Credit Union achieve and maintain its Fit-Friendly Worksite status. Other factors include having a walking path and fitness facility available, providing healthy food options, and offering worksite health risk assessments. More information on the Fit-Friendly Worksites program can be found at www.heart.org.

“Part of the Credit Union’s mission is to help members and employees achieve their goals and dreams,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU’s President and CEO. “By offering an expansive employee wellness program, we are providing opportunities and resources that allow employees to better themselves both physically and mentally.”

MSU Federal Credit Union, the world’s largest university-based credit union, offers a full range of personal — and business-related — financial services to Michigan State University and Oakland University faculty, staff, students, alumni association members, and their families worldwide in addition to a variety of select employee groups. Founded in 1937 by a few MSU professors and employees, MSUFCU has 17 branches, over 220,000 members, more than $3.25 billion in assets, and over 700 employees. In 2015, MSUFCU was named as one of the Nation’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For and one of the Nation’s Best and Brightest in Wellness by the National Association for Business Resources, and was listed as the fifth top employer in the large-employer category in the 2015 Top Workplaces list by the Detroit Free Press. In 2016, MSUFCU was selected as one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, receiving the Michigan Business Professional Association’s top honor of Elite Overall – Best of the Best award.
