“When the kids visit, they are experiencing a vibrant environment where they can have fun, ask questions, and interact with Credit Union employees. This helps kids feel more at ease later when talking about their finances or using their accounts. Similarly, we are creating a trusting environment for parents. Kids can have fun with finances, and we are happy to show that to them.”— Lisa, Credit Union Employee

EAST LANSING, Mich. – MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for the CUNA HR & Organizational Development Award for employee engagement. The MSUFCU Human Resources Department was honored with the award at the 23rd annual CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council Conference held April 19–22.

The CUNA HR & Organizational Development award recognizes and honors credit unions that exemplify excellence in human resources and company development. It also recognizes those who promote credit union philosophies through leadership. MSUFCU received this award for continuously excelling in professional ethics and contributing to the credit union movement. There were three aspects of human resources considered in this award including employee engagement, management practices, and innovative staff development.

“It was an honor to receive this award for our efforts regarding employee engagement,” said Silvia Dimma, MSUFCU’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “MSUFCU prides itself on creating a positive work environment and providing opportunities for all employees to grow, develop, and become successful leaders.”

MSU Federal Credit Union offers a full range of personal — and business-related — financial services to Michigan State University and Oakland University faculty, staff, students, alumni, and their families worldwide, in addition to a variety of select employee groups. Founded in 1937 by MSU professors, MSUFCU has 17 branches, over 235,000 members, more than $3.5 billion in assets, and over 750 employees. Also in 2016, MSUFCU was selected as one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, receiving the Michigan Business Professional Association’s top honor of Elite Overall – Best of the Best award. MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence, and was recognized in 2016 as fifth in the nation for its financial education program by the National Youth Involvement Board. In 2017, the Credit Union was named Outstanding Credit Union of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League.
