“It is exciting to support a program that allows local children in our community to work closely with college-aged students. These children are being exposed to experiences that show the opportunity they will have through continuing their education.”— April Clobes, MSUFCU President and CEO

EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce that it has been ranked as a Training Top 125 by Training magazine for excellence in its employer-sponsored training and development programs. Winners in the Top 125 will be recognized at an awards gala on February 12, 2018.

MSUFCU has an extensive development program available to employees at any stage of their careers. Once hired, employees take a four-week training course to introduce them to the credit union philosophy and MSUFCU’s culture, mission, core values, products, and services. Each year, employees participate in development courses to refresh on the organization’s goals and offerings as well as learn about inclusion and safety and security. At any level of employment, employees can also take advantage of personal enrichment, leadership skills, and management development programs.

“We are extraordinarily proud of the dedication and passion in each and every one of our employees and are always looking for ways to provide resources and trainings to support them in their own growth and careers,” said Silvia Dimma, MSUFCU’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “Our extensive training program results in employees who are knowledgeable about our products and services and are excited to contribute to the overall goals of the organization.”

The Training Top 125 ranking assessed many aspects of employer-sponsored training programs, including: total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement, and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs.

MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence and has received several top industry and workplace awards. For the fourth year in a row, MSUFCU was named as a Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press. This year, it was also recognized as one of CU Journal’s Best Credit Unions to Work For, a Best Workplace for Women by Fortune Magazine, and Outstanding Credit Union of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League. MSUFCU has also been nationally recognized for its financial education initiatives, ranking first in Michigan and second in the nation for the 2017 Alphonse Desjardins Adult Financial Education award by the Credit Union National Association and fifth in nation for youth financial education in 2016 by the National Youth Involvement Board. Founded in 1937 by MSU faculty and staff, MSUFCU has 18 branches, nearly 250,000 members, more than $3.7 billion in assets, and over 800 employees.
