EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) was recognized March 28, 2019, with an award from ATHENA Award® Program for Organizational Leadership. This is based on its commitment to support female professionals, such as appointing women into management positions, and donating to community organizations.

“We are honored to receive this award in recognition of our history of hiring and promoting women into leadership roles, and our commitment to the community,” said April Clobes, President/CEO of MSUFCU. “Seventy percent of management positions at MSUFCU are held by women, which is reflective of overall employee base —70% of which are women.”

The ATHENA Award Program recognizes organizations for professional excellence, providing valuable service to their communities, and assisting women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills. The Credit Union also helps strengthen communities by providing education and resources to underserved populations, creating sustainable programs, and empowering others to make a positive difference.

MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence and has received several top industry and workplace awards. The credit union was named Best Workplace in Financial Services and Insurance by Fortune Magazine, and received the ATHENA Award® for Organizational Leadership. For the sixth year in a row, MSUFCU was named as a Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press. In 2018, it was again recognized as one of CU Journal’s Best Credit Unions to Work For, a Michigan Best and Brightest in Wellness award winner, National Best and Brightest in Wellness award winner, and is certified as a Great Place to Work®. In 2017, MSUFCU was recognized as a Best Workplace for Women by Fortune Magazine, and an Outstanding Credit Union of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League. The credit union has also been nationally recognized for its financial education initiatives, ranking first in Michigan and second in the nation for the 2017 Alphonse Desjardins Adult Financial Education award by the Credit Union National Association. Founded in 1937, MSUFCU has 19 branches, more than 271,000 members, $4.4 billion in assets, and nearly 900 employees.
