“It's wonderful to partner with the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance for our annual tree planting event where we help our community and the environment. This year, we also worked with the City of East Lansing to plant trees at the Aquatic Center. Staff at the Aquatic Center said the trees planted around the pool area will help to cool the pavement on hot days, making it a more enjoyable experience for those visiting. MSUFCU Business Member, Value Engineering, Receives $25,000 Elevate Small Business Grant

EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce that its business member, Value Engineering, has received a $25,000 Elevate Grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBI). The Elevate Grant assists the growth and development of small businesses, their workforces, and the communities they serve.

 

Value Engineering will use the grant for training and hiring purposes alongside new technical design training and to purchase new technical/design software for the organization.

 

“As a small business making advances to enter a competitive and mature industry, this grant will help us provide training and new equipment for staff,” said Jon Kolbasa, PE, Value Engineering Founder/Service Leader. “By focusing on delivering innovative and collaborative transportation solutions and demonstrating dependability to our partners and clients, we will be able to pursue new markets and new projects.”

 

“Jon has been a MSUFCU member since his time as a Michigan State University student, and we are excited to continue this partnership by serving his business, Value Engineering, since 2013,” said Jeff Jackson, MSUFCU Chief Lending Officer. “We have witnessed and supported the business’s continued growth, and this grant is an opportunity for Jon to take his business to the next level.”

 

Value Engineering, a Lansing, Mich.‐based civil engineering firm, provides quality design and construction services to connect people and communities for both private and government contracts. Clients include the Michigan Department of Transportation, City of Lansing, City of Detroit, Ingham County, and Wayne County.
