Credit Report Information

Credit scores are used in more ways than many of us realize: Lenders, insurance companies, employers, landlords, and many others use your credit score to determine what services they offer you and how much you will pay for them.

To assist you in achieving your financial goals, MSUFCU is happy to provide you with information about how your credit score is determined and what you can do to attain the best possible credit score.

The most commonly used score, your FICO® score, is generated by the three major credit bureaus (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax) and is based on information in your credit report. Your score may vary from bureau to bureau, but the differences won't be drastic.

Credit score ranges from 300 to 850 and are the result of five basic factors:

Past History: 35%, Amount Owed: 30%, Length of Credit History: 15%, Types of Credit in Use: 10%, New Credit : 10%
