2025 Year of Impact
February 19, 2026
In 2025, MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) remained committed to making a positive impact on our members and communities by helping them achieve financial security, and ultimately, their dreams.

Through our shared commitment and meaningful partnerships, we empowered our community, one member at a time, to create a brighter future. Together, we're not just imagining possibilities—we're making them happen.
Investing In Our Communities
Giving back to the community is at the core of everything we do. Through grants, sponsorships, and special member events, we invest in the communities where our members live, work, and grow. By supporting local organizations and fostering community development, we strive to create a lasting, positive impact.
Community Giving: In 2025, our corporate giving and sponsorship initiatives totaled more than $968,626, helping 369 community organizations.
MSUFCU Desk Drawer Foundation: In 2025, the MSUFCU Desk Drawer Foundation (DDF) awarded $678,190 in grants to 23 nonprofits across its six regional markets, supporting work in the arts, entrepreneurship, financial education, stable housing, and youth empowerment. Members also contributed through the quarterly DDF Raffle, purchasing nearly 6,000 tickets and generating $59,030 for the Foundation. Four members received a combined $57,910 in raffle prizes.
“Thank you to the members who generously support the Foundation, including those who participate in the DDF Raffle. Your advocacy and belief in our mission drive the meaningful impact created through these grants,” said Executive Director Rebecca Surian.
Member-Exclusive Events: MSUFCU members are invited to participate in member-exclusive events. In 2025, MSUFCU hosted 9 events, like The Social at 311, which brings members together for engaging and interactive activities and workshops while making connections.
“These events sparked meaningful connections between our members and the community,” said Arianna Ridderbusch, Vice President of Community Impact. “They offered unique, enriching experiences while uplifting local small businesses that make our community special.”
Community Events: MSUFCU hosted 30 community events, including Blue Mondays, Kids’ Day, Black Business Expo, and many more. In addition, we were the presenting sponsor of the Detroit Free Press Marathon for the third consecutive year, where we continue to highlight our commitment to health, wellness, and economic growth, ensuring that race weekend benefits local businesses and our members visiting downtown Detroit.
Empowering Financial Confidence
MSUFCU is proud to empower our members through financial education, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions and reach their goals. We remain committed to advancing this work and strengthening our community’s financial well-being. In 2025, the Credit Union delivered 1,474 financial education presentations, reaching 31,248 attendees.
Financial Education Seminars: MSUFCU provides expert-led seminars covering essential topics such as budgeting, retirement planning, and credit management. In 2025, 47 seminars were held, providing members with practical insights to help individuals make informed financial decisions.
Wallet Watch Podcast: The Wallet Watch podcast is an accessible resource for members looking to expand their financial knowledge. Covering a wide range of money-related topics, the podcast reached 2,649 downloads, providing listeners with expert insights to help navigate financial decisions.
Financial 4.0 for Students: Students at MSU, OU, and local high schools can access financial education through Financial 4.0, a website and mobile app designed to promote smart money management. Our Financial Education team gave 38 presentations to 512 students in 2025, teaching them how to use interactive tools and resources tailored to the financial needs of young adults.
Lansing SAVE: A collaborative effort between the City of Lansing, the Lansing School District, and MSUFCU, the Lansing SAVE program saw MSUFCU financial educators teach 1,013 lessons to 19,470 student attendees in Lansing Public Schools classrooms in 2025. Through hands-on financial education, students were given the opportunity to make deposits into savings accounts designed to support their future education beyond high school.
“Lansing SAVE reflects MSUFCU’s belief that every child deserves a strong financial foundation and the confidence to pursue their dreams,” said Arianna Ridderbusch, Vice President of Community Impact at MSUFCU. “By introducing financial education early, we help students imagine what’s possible and take tangible steps toward their future.”
The Culture of Finances: The Culture of Finances provides tailored workshops and hands-on learning experiences for underrepresented and unbanked communities, equipping participants with the tools to build confidence in managing their finances. In 2025, 156 graduates completed the program and are working towards financial stability.
“Walking into this program, I took what I knew about my finances and ‘threw it all out the window,’” said participant Breeaana Debhulbes of Lansing. “I was open-minded to everything I could learn, and, in the end, I learned a lot. Whatever life throws at me, I know that I can confidently make better choices financially because of this program and encourage many more people to do what I did for myself — that’s taking a chance at something that can be uncomfortable at first but allows us to grow in the end.”
