MSUFCU participates in Annual New Student Orientation at MSU
It is summertime at Michigan State University and as campus quiets down after graduation, we begin to prepare for MSU’s New Student Orientation. This program formally known as AOP (Academic Orientation Program) welcomes incoming freshmen to a full day of scheduling, networking, and education. Parents also have an opportunity to go to resource events to help prepare them for their student becoming a college student.
Each year, MSUFCU’s Financial Education Department host a “Go for the Green” reality fair in partnership with MSU’s Financial Aid office and Human Development and Family studies, where the students have an opportunity to visit four stations: credit, budgeting, MSUFCU account benefits, and financial aid. This is an opportunity for the students to get useful information to help prepare them for freshman year. The students will experience a five-minute education session at each station.
A goal of the financial education team is to educate as many students as possible. While this has been an optional program for the students in the past, this year the reality fair has been added to the schedule for all 4,000 students to attend. With the mission statement of MSUFCU being to help members achieve financial security, their goals, and ultimately, their dreams, we are able to help students start doing this as young adults new to the area. Building dreams, one student at a time!
