“Judging the OU Business Scholars Case Competition allowed me to see the dedication to learning and the engagement the OU business students have. They were actively involved in learning about their products and making the business decisions necessary to increase their product penetration in the market. Although they had limited time to work through the details of the case, they presented thorough business decisions that showcased their business knowledge. ”— Lea Ammerman, Executive Vice President of Member Services

Advocating for Mothers and Babies through March of Dimes

The joy of welcoming a newborn baby is nearly unmatched. Similarly, entering motherhood is both exhilarating and challenging. While every mother encounters their share of difficulty, some must face daunting decisions. Nearly 1 in 10 babies are born premature, and in the United States birth before 37 weeks of pregnancy and its complications are the number one cause of infant death.

Parents of premature babies are launched into a complicated balancing act of managing everyday activities while making critical healthcare decisions. March of Dimes is a foundation dedicated to advocating for mothers and babies affected by these complications. The Credit Union is proud to support these efforts and help provide community members with resources on this topic.

March of Dimes, formerly known as National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939. His vision was to end childhood polio. Over the years, the foundation has shifted its focus to preventing birth defects. Today, March of Dimes has global programs dedicated to providing aid and supporting babies and their families.

On Monday, November 13, 2017, the foundation held their annual Signature Chefs Auction, a fundraiser that spotlights local culinary talent. Chefs craft a collection of signature dishes and compete with one another for a variety of awards. Credit Union employees helped collect and deliver donations during the event. Credit Union employee, Sam, commented, “I love to volunteer for the March of Dimes because they work tirelessly to give all babies a healthy start. Their mission is truly inspiring.”
