“It's wonderful to partner with the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance for our annual tree planting event where we help our community and the environment. This year, we also worked with the City of East Lansing to plant trees at the Aquatic Center. Staff at the Aquatic Center said the trees planted around the pool area will help to cool the pavement on hot days, making it a more enjoyable experience for those visiting. It's nice knowing a few hours of work on our end will make a difference for so many for years to come.”— Becky, Credit Union volunteer

Ele's Place Celebrates Grand Opening of Children's Garden

Giving back to the community is a core value at MSUFCU and each year, the Credit Union chooses a local charity to support. In 2009, MSUFCU employees were excited to choose Ele’s Place as their charity campaign fundraiser for the year.

After six months of fundraising through raffles, dress down days, and other activities to encourage participation, more than $24,000 was raised! The funds were used to create a beautiful memory garden, the Children’s Garden, which will serve as a space for children to reflect and remember loved ones.

On June 4, 2013, Ele’s Place celebrated the much-anticipated ribbon cutting ceremony of their new Children’s Garden.

Credit Union volunteers helped to plant flowers in the garden on Saturday, June 1 in preparation for the opening of the garden, and another group of volunteers attended the ribbon cutting ceremony in support of Ele’s Place.

A plaque was placed on the wall outside of Ele’s Place to recognize MSUFCU for our donation to help support children at their organization.

Ele’s Place is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to creating awareness of and support for grieving children and their families. For more information about Ele’s Place, please visit: http://www.elesplace.org/.
