Ele's Place Selected as Donation Recipient by the Credit Union's Volunteer of the Year
As part of the Credit Union’s CU Involved volunteer program, an employee is recognized each year for his or her exemplary work in the community. Recently, Credit Union employee, Chelsea, was recently named Volunteer of the Year. As part of this honor, she was given the opportunity to choose a local charity to receive a $500 donation on behalf of the Credit Union. Chelsea selected Ele’s Place, a Mid-Michigan organization dedicated to creating awareness of and support for grieving children and their families.
There is an immeasurable magnitude of loss that accompanies the death of a loved one. It can seem as if no one understands the pain you are confronting and trying to move past. Coping with grief and loss is not a linear or simple process. When a child experiences the loss of a loved one, he or she may find it difficult to express their emotions. At such a young age, few friends can relate or seem to understand their hurt.
Ele’s Place is instrumental in providing children with a platform to navigate and express these feelings. The program connects participants with one another, creating a space for them to discuss their feelings and memories openly. Here, caring volunteers help them make sense of their emotions, providing comfort and validation. Through this ongoing support, children and their families begin to heal.
The Credit Union is committed to making a positive impact on as many lives as possible. We embrace our role as a community leader and are proud to support local organizations that help serve community members. The Credit Union is pleased to continue to support Ele’s Place and to help connect children and their families with resources to aid the healing process.
