“We are excited to integrate a college intern into our financial education program because it will provide a dynamic professional experience and inject new ideas into the program. We are also excited to provide intern opportunities for the Oakland University community that provide for career exploration as well as hands on professional experience.”— Ian, Financial Educator

EAST LANSING, MI — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) was pleased to partner with Sparrow Hospital’s Children’s Center and support children in the community by taking in donations of over 280 toys through a toy drive in its Greater Lansing branches.

The items donated benefited Sparrow’s Children’s Center playroom, a place for young patients and their families to experience a home away from home while receiving care. Nurses and child life specialists use the playroom to help children recover from illness or injury through play, education, and emotional support.

“We are so pleased and grateful to MSUFCU and their members, who are helping to make this summer sunny and bright for our pediatric patients. With these gifts, MSUFCU is helping to celebrate and inspire miracles. Our relationship with MSUFCU epitomizes the community approach to caring for children,” said Kelly Hebert, Child Life Specialist with Sparrow Health System.

April Clobes, MSUFCU President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Opportunities like these allow our members and employees to show their dedication to our community, particularly the youth. I’m proud to see the support that was shown to help make a difference in the lives of many children and families.”

MSU Federal Credit Union, the world’s largest university-based credit union, offers a full range of personal — and business-related — financial services to Michigan State University and Oakland University faculty, staff, students, alumni association members, and their families worldwide in addition to a variety of select employee groups. Founded in 1937 by a few MSU professors and employees, MSUFCU has 15 branches, over 202,000 members, more than $2.9 billion in assets, and over 640 employees. MSUFCU was named 2014 Credit Union of the Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU), and the #1 employer in the large-employer category in the 2014 Top Workplaces list by the Detroit Free Press.
