Looking for Ways to Give Back this Holiday Season? Stop by an MSUFCU Branch in November
EAST LANSING, Mich. — When you visit an MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) branch this month, you may notice a Giving Tree poster displaying many gift tags. If you take a closer look, you will see a gift request written on each tag. These requests come from local families who, without the generosity of the community, may not have holiday gifts this year.
“The Giving Tree is a great opportunity for our employees, members, and others in the community to provide special gifts or monetary donations to families this holiday season,” said Whitney Anderson-Harrell, MSUFCU Chief Community Development Officer. “This is another way MSUFCU brings the community and charitable organizations together to make a difference — especially for the children — in our communities.”
MSUFCU has partnered with several charities in each of the communities where it has locations for the Giving Tree program. Here’s how the program works: Members and employees can choose a gift tag, then purchase a new item or make a monetary donation. All donations must be delivered to a Credit Union branch, unwrapped and with the gift tag attached, by December 4, 2019.
The Credit Union is partnering with area charities for the Giving Tree donations, including MSU Apartments in East Lansing; Child and Family Charities in Lansing; Clarkston Area Youth Assistance in Oakland County; and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence and has received several top industry and workplace awards. The Credit Union was named in the top 100 best workplaces for women by Fortune for the third year, in the top five Michigan credit unions by Forbes Best-in-State Credit Unions, Best Workplace in Financial Services and Insurance by Fortune Magazine, received the ATHENA Award® for Organizational Leadership, and for the fifth year, was named West Michigan Best and Brightest to Work For. MSUFCU was named one of Michigan’s Best and Brightest in Wellness for the fourth consecutive year, has been certified as a Great Place to Work® for six consecutive years, and was named as a Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press for six consecutive years. The Credit Union has also been recognized for its financial education initiatives, ranking first for the Alphonse Desjardins Adult and Youth Financial Education Awards, and the Louise Herring Award as well as an honorable mention for the Dora Maxwell Award by the Michigan Credit Union League. Founded in 1937, MSUFCU is headquartered in East Lansing, has 19 branches, more than 284,000 members, $4.5 billion in assets, and more than 900 employees. For more information, visit msufcu.org.
