Empowering Athletes On and Off the Field
The Women of Sparta (WOS) program is a collaborative effort between MSUFCU, MSU Women's Athletics, and our community, dedicated to empowering our athletes beyond their sports endeavors. Our mission is to foster leadership, advocate for financial literacy, and promote personal growth among our athletes and in our community.

Our Mission:
Through the Women of Sparta program, we aim to amplify the voices of our athletes, equip them with essential life skills, and create opportunities for them to excel both on and off the field.

Program Objectives:
Our primary objectives with the Women of Sparta program are threefold:
• Empower our athletes to become leaders and agents of change.
• Advocate for financial literacy within our athlete community and beyond.
• Promote personal growth and community engagement through partnership with MSUFCU

Financial Literacy and Career Readiness Classes
Tailored sessions to address the specific needs of student-athletes, covering topics such as budgeting, financial planning, and career readiness.

Athletes Can Choose from the Following Sessions:
• Wednesday, August 7, 2024 -- 1-3 p.m.
• Wednesday, January 8, 2025 -- 6-8 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 8, 2025 -- 6-8 p.m.
Media Training and Personal Branding Workshops
Enhance communication skills and empower athletes to effectively share their stories and values.

Athletes Can Choose from the Following Sessions:
• Wednesday, August 21, 2024 -- 6-8 p.m.
• Wednesday, January 15, 2025 -- 6-8 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 15, 2025 -- 6-8 p.m.
Leadership Development, Mentorship, Job Shadowing,
and Internship Opportunities

Beyond the field, we offer programs to develop leadership skills, provide mentorship, and offer valuable job shadowing and internship experiences.

When is my Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreement application due and when can I expect to hear back?
Applications are due by June 1, 2024. Chosen applicants will be contacted by July 1, 2024, confirming that they have been accepted into Women of Sparta.

How many applicants are you accepting and who is eligible to join Women of Sparta?
MSUFCU will be offering NIL agreements to two athletes from each MSU women's varsity sport, plus all the eligible players on the MSU women's basketball team. Athletes involved in Michigan State University women's sports programs are eligible to apply to join Women of Sparta presented by MSUFCU.

What will my responsibilities be as a Woman of Sparta?
Women of Sparta athletes support and empower both the MSU women's athletics program and the core values of the Credit Union to the Spartan community. In the past, athletes have participated in community events and volunteering opportunities, posted on social media, and had media days in partnership with the CU.
