EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) has ranked highest among 70 credit unions throughout the nation in Consumer Reports’ 2017 Banking Survey, with an overall reader score of 96 out of 100.

Consumer Reports sent the survey to its members asking questions about their credit unions’ customer service, website usefulness, ease of online transactions, convenience of hours and locations, and wait times.  Overall ratings were based on the responses of 16,455 Consumer Reports members. MSUFCU was the only credit union to receive superior rankings in all six categories.

“Our top priority is to provide superior service to our over 250,000 members worldwide,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU President/CEO. “We do this not only through in-person interactions, but also by offering a robust mobile banking app, free services such as bill payment and eDeposit, and a leading-edge fraud monitoring program that protects our members and their accounts. Additionally, we offer extended hours in our branches, call center, and eServices department, so that members can speak with us in the ways they feel comfortable at times convenient for their schedules.”

MSUFCU has made several recent enhancements to its service offerings, all focusing on the specific needs of members. These include: remodeling three branches with an open model where members can speak to one representative to complete their personal and business financial needs; redesigning its website to optimize users’ experiences and navigation while researching Credit Union products and services; improving and adding online account and mobile app services, providing members with more control over their accounts no matter where they are; and hosting unique events on specialized topics so members can achieve greater financial capacity from a reliable source.

April added, “our mission and values focus on providing superior service to our members, and ultimately helping them achieve their dreams. Our employees are committed to helping members achieve financial success with each and every interaction.”

MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence and has received several top industry and workplace awards. For the sixth year in a row, MSUFCU was named as a Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press. This year, it was also recognized as one of CU Journal’s Best Credit Unions to Work For, a Best Workplace for Women by Fortune Magazine, and Outstanding Credit Union of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League. MSUFCU has also been nationally recognized for its financial education initiatives, ranking first in Michigan and second in the nation for the 2017 Alphonse Desjardins Adult Financial Education award by the Credit Union National Association and fifth in nation for youth financial education in 2016 by the National Youth Involvement Board. Founded in 1937 by MSU faculty and staff, MSUFCU has 18 branches, over 250,000 members, more than $3.8 billion in assets, and 850 employees.
