In mid-April, two board members (Todd M. Harper and Tanya Otsuka) of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) were removed from their positions by the current federal administration. This unexpected change leaves Chairman Kyle Hauptman as the sole member of the three-person board, raising questions about the agency's leadership and regulatory capacity. Until new board appointments are made, the regulatory decision-making may be slow, as a quorum of at least two members is required to vote on significant policy changes.
